Waterways
Maine Pro
Musica has commissioned "Waterways," a multi-media orchestra piece
to capture the history and folkways of Maine's relationship to water:
to the coastal enterprises; to the inland woods and rivers; and to the
future of wind and wave power. David will work with writer/educator
Susan Miville, his partner in ArtsEngage. The piece will be funded in part by
the Maine Community

Susan Mivlle, a frequent collaborator, to form ArtsEngage, an arts consulting partnership designed to helps communities,
businesses, and schools use creativity to learn, innovate and tell their stories.
Dreams of Wisdom
First performed, Jan 2, 2007 St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Charlotte, NC.
Commissioned for
Music at St. Peter's Chamber Music Series. For violin,
cello, bass clarinet, piano and percussion. Five movements inspired by
the paintings of Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. New York Premiere, May 17, 2008 at the Nicholas Roerich Museum.

Mill Project: A Piedmont Rhapsody
Premiere April, 2005; over 25 performances in Charlotte and throughout Piedmont region of NC and SC.
For Chamber Ensemble, Narrator and Video.
Commissioned by the
Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
A special two-year initiative sponsored by the North
Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, Mill
Village: A Piedmont Rhapsody is inspired by life in the textile mill
villages of the Carolinas. The multi-media program combines oral
history, poetry, photography and video with music drawn from traditional
Southern roots and the symphonic tradition. This project received the
2005 MetLife Award
for Excellence in Community Engagement.
